PlayStation 5 Gets Nintendo Switch Emulator via ProsperoEden

Developers have introduced ProsperoEden. This is an early alpha port of the Eden Switch emulator that allows Nintendo Switch games to run natively on the PlayStation 5 console using homebrew mode. Unlike previous multi-platform emulation methods, this software operates directly on Sony hardware without requiring Linux.

Initial release details show that the current software build successfully supports video output, audio playback, full controller input, and a functioning save system. The emulator also features a performance overlay, quick menu hotkeys, and the ability to toggle between handheld and desktop modes for individual titles.

Benchmark testing across several popular titles reveals mixed performance results typical of an early-stage alpha build. Games like Hollow Knight run stably, while Metroid Dread achieves between 59 and 60 frames per second on its title screen, and Super Mario 3D World ranges from 35 to 53 FPS during its animated introduction.

More demanding titles expose hardware and optimization limits. While Cuphead maintains a steady 60 FPS, games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe hover around 40 FPS, which falls short of the standard 60 FPS target. Heavier software encounters severe bottlenecks: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild hits 30 FPS in menus before dropping to 8 to 10 FPS during gameplay, and Pokemon Legends Z-A struggles heavily at startup before crashing.

Using ProsperoEden requires a jailbroken PlayStation 5 console with homebrew mode enabled. Users must also supply their own Nintendo Switch key dumps, system firmware, and game files. As development continues, the project highlights the ongoing evolution of the PS5 homebrew ecosystem for running non-native applications.
