Television personality and animal welfare advocate Pete Wicks has returned for the fourth series of his hit factual entertainment show, Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake. The eight-part series premiered on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 9 p.m. on the free-to-air channel U&W and streaming service U. It continues its mission to highlight dog rescue and rehabilitation across the United Kingdom.
Produced by BBC Studios Entertainment, the new season follows Wicks as he rolls up his sleeves at various Dogs Trust rehoming centers nationwide. This season features some of the most severe and emotional cases the presenter has faced. These include a high-profile rescue of over 250 dogs from a single residential property and another animal saved from shocking conditions at an unregulated rescue facility.
Inside the New Series and High-Profile Rescues
Throughout the fourth series, viewers witness the resilience of dogs overcoming severe neglect alongside the dedication of charity staff. Episodes feature Wicks helping care for vulnerable Cane Corso puppies, rehabilitating a traumatized Jack Russell cross, and following a promising Labrador being assessed as a potential assistance dog for military veterans.
Adding a personal touch to the latest run, Wicks is joined on screen by his own recently adopted rescue dog, Rodney. The canine companion works alongside Wicks to help support other dogs on their road to recovery. Previous filming for the show has taken place at regional facilities, including Dogs Trust Kenilworth-where Wicks famously helped rehome a Neapolitan Mastiff named Theo-and Dogs Trust Evesham.

Expanding Horizons with Overseas Specials
In addition to the eight UK-focused episodes, the new commission expands the show’s scope significantly. Wicks will travel abroad for a two-part overseas special, scheduled to air in early 2027. He will work alongside international Dogs Trust partner organizations to examine how animal rescue and rehabilitation systems operate globally.
Helen Nightingale, Head of Factual and Factual Entertainment Commissioning at UKTV, praised the ongoing collaboration. “Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake is an absolute labour of love for everyone involved. Working closely with Pete and BBC Studios Entertainment has been an integral part of shaping this series,” she noted.
The program has proven to be a major ratings success for UKTV. Series three became the highest-rating programme launch on U&W during its broadcast window, averaging over 700,000 viewers for Total Programme Viewing. It also secured the top spot as the most-streamed unscripted series on U during its launch month.
