A Providence man was arrested following a vehicle collision on Route 146 in Lincoln, Rhode Island, after state troopers discovered he was wanted on outstanding criminal charges. The Sunday afternoon crash triggered an immediate response from law enforcement, leading to multiple driving-related charges alongside pre-existing warrants.
Details of the Lincoln Route 146 Crash
According to the Rhode Island State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Sunday along Route 146 in the town of Lincoln. Troopers responding to the motor vehicle collision identified one of the involved motorists as 31-year-old Tyrin Bridges of Providence.
Following a roadside investigation, authorities determined that Bridges was actively wanted on separate, outstanding charges for larceny and conspiracy. In addition to executing the active warrants tied to those prior allegations, state troopers issued the motorist new motor vehicle infractions stemming from the afternoon collision.
Charges Filed Against Tyrin Bridges
State police confirmed that Bridges faces a combination of outstanding warrants and fresh traffic-related offenses resulting from the Sunday crash. The complete list of charges documented by law enforcement includes:
- Larceny (outstanding warrant)
- Conspiracy (outstanding warrant)
- Reckless driving
- Driving with an expired license or operating without a license
The combination of the active warrants and the new traffic offenses shifted the nature of the stop from a standard accident investigation into a criminal custody process.
Processing and Court Appearance
Following his apprehension at the scene on Route 146, Bridges was transported to the Rhode Island State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks. There, he was officially booked and processed.
Because authorities identified him as a probation violator, Bridges was denied immediate release following his booking. He was held overnight at the barracks pending a morning appearance before a judge. The following day, he was scheduled for arraignment and presentment as a probation violator at the Third Division District Court.
State police have not released additional details regarding the underlying facts of the separate larceny and conspiracy cases that initially triggered the active warrants against him.
