Apple TV’s critically acclaimed spy drama Slow Horses has climbed to the top of the platform’s television charts. It surpassed Ted Lasso following the release of its fifth episode. The hit series, anchored by Academy Award winner Gary Oldman and an expansive ensemble cast, continues to pull in strong viewership figures as its sixth season unfolds.
According to reports tracking streaming metrics, Slow Horses currently ranks first among television series on Apple TV. Ted Lasso has shifted to second place, while the sci-fi drama Silo holds the third spot following the conclusion of its third season in September. On the film side, Matchbox leads the platform’s movie chart.
The show’s ability to evolve its cast while retaining its core identity has played a significant role in maintaining its strong momentum. New addition Lenny Rush, who portrays the character Reece Nesmith in Season 6, recently discussed the welcoming environment on set and the unique experience of working alongside veteran actor Gary Oldman.
“He’s such a nice guy and so great; as everyone knows, he’s incredible,” Rush shared regarding Oldman. “I learned a lot from him. He didn’t even have to give me advice; just watching him. I think he’s a great role model.”
Adapted from Mick Herron’s acclaimed series of espionage novels, Slow Horses follows Jackson Lamb (Oldman). Lamb is the cantankerous, brilliant leader of Slough House, a dumping ground department for disgraced MI5 agents who have failed at their jobs but have not been fired.
What to Expect as Season 6 Wraps Up
True to its previous runs, Season 6 consists of six fast-paced episodes. New installments debut every Wednesday on Apple TV, leading up to the season finale. The current season brings back old mysteries, high-stakes revenge plots orchestrated by Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas), and surprising returns from characters long thought dead, such as MI5 agent Sid Baker (Olivia Cooke).
Looking ahead, the spy thriller has a secure future on the platform. Apple TV previously renewed the series for a seventh season, which will adapt Mick Herron’s Bad Actors. This renewal ensures that the adventures of the dysfunctional Slough House team will remain a streaming staple for years to come.
