Former The Traitors contestant Charlotte Berman has pitched a game-changing concept to BBC producers: identical twins playing as a single contestant. The proposal comes ahead of the launch of The Celebrity Traitors series two on October 1, 2026.
Berman gained notoriety during series three of the civilian edition for faking a Welsh accent and falsely claiming to be from Abergavenny. She revealed her new production idea following her elimination from the reality competition series.
The Master Idea Shared With BBC Executives
Speaking on behalf of Buzz Bingo, the London native explained that she has taken her format idea directly to the decision-makers behind the hit BBC psychological show.
"I have what I think is the master idea which I need to be implemented. I've mentioned this when I've seen and spoken to some of the executive producers," Berman shared.
"It's to have identical twins. I think it would be so funny, so unnecessary, but put a pair of identical twins in there and have them play as the same person. I don't know if they would be allowed a debrief; I can't tell you what the construct would be. For the viewer, that would be so funny. If that happens, you heard it here first."
Reflecting on Deception and Series Three
During her time on the civilian series, Berman adopted a fabricated Welsh accent, telling her fellow players she hailed from Abergavenny. While viewers caught on to the act, her co-stars only discovered the truth after leaving the show.
Explaining her strategic choice, Berman noted that she believed Welsh accents sounded inherently "trustworthy." She added that her mother actually originated from the nation. Despite the elaborate deception, the strategy ultimately failed to protect her from being banished.
Looking back at her time in the castle alongside contestants like Alexander Dragonetti, Francesca Rowan-Plowden, and Freddie Fraser-whose series was won by Faithfuls Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown-Berman maintains she has "no regrets."
"I feel very lucky to have been such a memorable part of my series," she said. "It was a lot of fun, and I think it was very much in the spirit of The Traitors and the kind of camp, pantomime style of this backstabbing parlour game that we're all playing."
Celebrity Traitors Series Two Launch
Fans of the psychological competition will not have to wait long for fresh betrayals. The Celebrity Traitors series two premieres on October 1, 2026, at 8 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The star-studded line-up heading into the castle features singer-songwriter James Blunt, Love Island host Maya Jama, acclaimed actor Michael Sheen, and comedians Miranda Hart and Rob Beckett. Whether BBC bosses will adopt Berman’s identical twins twist for future civilian or celebrity instalments remains to be seen.
