Marvel Television is bringing Vision and Ultron back together in VisionQuest, a Disney+ series premiering on October 14, 2026. The eight-episode project explores the android hero’s ongoing struggle with identity, emotional memory, and family dynamics, serving as the final chapter in a connected television trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued through Agatha All Along in 2024.
Paul Bettany reprises his role as Vision, while James Spader returns as the voice and presence of Ultron. According to early reports and trailers unveiled at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Ultron’s presence inside Vision’s artificial mind creates a central psychological conflict for the protagonist.
Inside Vision’s Mindscape and New Life in Exile
Reports indicate that Vision has been living incognito in Edinburgh, working at a pub while retreating mentally into an imagined English manor. Inside this digital residence, his programming interacts with various artificial intelligence personas. These legacy digital characters include J.A.R.V.I.S., played by James D’Arcy; E.D.I.T.H., played by Emily Hampshire; F.R.I.D.A.Y., played by Orla Brady; and maintenance-focused robotic arms D.U.M.-E and U, played by Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer.
Ultron occupies a separate, contentious space within this digital construct. The friction between Vision, who strives to protect humanity, and Ultron, who views human existence as fundamentally flawed, drives much of the series’ philosophical drama. Showrunner Terry Matalas compares Vision’s internal journey to classic science fiction narratives, where the synthezoid must piece together fragmented memories and confront the creator who designed him as a weapon.
Cast and Creative Team
In addition to Bettany and Spader, the ensemble cast features Ruaridh Mollica as Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious teenager who may be the reincarnated son of Vision and Wanda Maximoff. The series also stars Todd Stashwick as the bounty hunter Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Lauren Morais, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, and Faran Tahir.
Terry Matalas serves as showrunner and directs alongside Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, and Vincenzo Natali. Jac Schaeffer, the creator of WandaVision and Agatha All Along, acts as an executive producer, maintaining creative continuity across the three streaming titles.
