Warhammer Community has officially unveiled three new Armies of Renown for the Khazalite Holds faction in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. This gives players fresh options to combine various duardin forces using themed army rules, unique abilities, and powerful unit synergies. The update introduces three distinct forces: Valankrom’s War Throng, the Fyrd of Fyrepeak, and the Throngankor Alliance.
These new additions expand how players can field Khazalite warriors alongside traditional and refugee duardin factions. They deeply emphasize ancestral vows, enduring grudges, and tight battlefield cooperation. All of these new rules and formations are included in the upcoming Khazalite Holds battletome.
Valankrom’s War Throng
The first Army of Renown focuses heavily on the new Khazalite miniatures by centering around High Kyng Valankrom atop his epic War Throne. Accompanied by kromdron units like Clanshields, Valayan Guardians, and rock-hard Gholems, this force is designed to protect the High Kyng while severely punishing anyone who dares attack him.
In Valankrom’s War Throng, Gholems serve as immovable bodyguards for the High Kyng. Any enemy unit that successfully inflicts damage on Valankrom becomes marked as wrongdoers for the rest of the battle. Friendly units in this army gain a permanent grudge mark bonus when fighting these designated wrongdoers, turning the centerpiece model into both a tactical lightning rod and a devastating combat threat wielding his relic hammer Bharadreng.
Fyrd of Fyrepeak
For players looking to channel the righteous fury of the Fyreslayers and reclaim vengeance for overrun magmaholds, the Fyrd of Fyrepeak Army of Renown provides an ideal outlet. Generating grudge marks in this army is straightforward: each time a friendly unit destroys an enemy unit, it gains a grudge mark. This allows the Grimmdron forces to grow steadily stronger as the match progresses.
Additionally, players can choose an enemy Hero as a dedicated nemesis using the Foeseeker heroic trait. Slaying this nemesis distributes grudge marks across your entire army or to nearby units. The force also gains access to a set of five once-per-battle abilities derived from Fyreslayer Ur-gold runes, such as the Rune of Speed, which lets players re-run and re-charge rolls when necessary.
Throngankor Alliance
The Throngankor Alliance bridges the gap between underground karaks and airborne sky-ports by uniting Khazalite Holds and Kharadron Overlords. When these enterprising duardin fight shoulder-to-shoulder, their mutual defense abilities shine.
A standout mechanic of this alliance allows non-hero Khazalite infantry units to hitch a ride on Kharadron skyvessels. During the movement phase, units can embark onto a skyvessel and disembark after it moves. This allows unexpected infantry blocks-such as Valayan Guardians-to launch directly from the deck. Alternatively, players can utilize the ‘Hammer and Anvil’ tactic, where the Khazalite ‘anvil’ engages an enemy in close combat while Kharadron Overlords act as the ‘hammer’, unleashing ranged attacks with critical hit synergies.
Release Details
The new Armies of Renown and comprehensive rules will be available in the upcoming Khazalite Holds battletome. Players can secure the new faction rules and models when the Army Set goes up for pre-order on Saturday.
