PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 7 receives the first part of its massive Spec IV update on October 15, 2026. This free update, designated as version 1.72, introduces six new vehicles, a challenging Japanese racing circuit, expanded collection tools, and fresh driving challenges. It broadens the racing simulator’s roster and paves the way for the 30th-anniversary celebration of the original Gran Turismo franchise in 2027.

According to Polyphony Digital and the official Gran Turismo website, the update becomes available on October 14 at 11 p.m. PDT. This corresponds to October 15 in the United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan. Split across two major content drops-with the second half scheduled for December-Spec IV serves as one of the most substantial expansions in the game’s lifecycle.

Sportsland Sugo Circuit Makes Its Franchise Debut

The headline physical addition in October is the Sportsland Sugo International Racing Course. Located in Miyagi Prefecture in northeastern Japan, Sugo is a premier domestic racing venue hosting elite series like Super GT and Super Formula. Famously technical and compact at 3,586 meters, the track features dramatic elevation changes and a final corner leading onto the main straight with a gradient of up to 10 percent.

Track specifications for Sportsland Sugo include:

  • Track Length: 3,586 meters
  • Elevation Change: 69.83 meters
  • Number of Corners: 13
  • Longest Straight: 704.5 meters

Six New Vehicles Join the Garage Roster

Update 1.72 brings six diverse machines covering electric concept cars, classic sports cars, a touring car racer, and a utility family vehicle. The vehicles included in Part 1 are:

  • Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo: The Chinese technology giant’s high-performance electric VGT entry.
  • Ferrari F355 Berlinetta ’94: A beloved mid-engine Italian sports car from the 1990s making a long-awaited return.

Beyond the cars and track, the Spec IV Part 1 update introduces mechanical and user-interface enhancements designed to streamline collection and photography:

  • Vintage Section: A dedicated Brand Central category showcasing cars manufactured in 2000 and earlier, offering direct links to Legend Cars and Used Cars dealerships.

  • Car Viewer: An upgraded garage feature letting players inspect vehicles from unconstrained camera angles, manipulate steering wheel angles, toggle lights, and swap out backgrounds for photography.
  • Collector Level Cap Increase: The maximum progression cap rises from level 70 to level 90, introducing high-tier Extra Menus at the Café.

Expanded Café Menus and World Circuit Events

The update populates the World Circuits map with fresh racing opportunities across various performance classes, alongside three new Café Extra Menus:

  • Extra Menu No. 55: Collection: High-Performance EVs (Unlocked at Collector Level 75+)
  • Extra Menu No. 56: Collection: Tuned GT-Rs (Unlocked at Collector Level 80+)
