Actress Zazie Beetz surprised fans and photographers on Tuesday night by revealing that she is expecting her first child. The 35-year-old star debuted her growing baby bump on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of her upcoming Apple TV crime drama, Nocturne.

Held at Regal Union Square, the high-profile event saw Beetz accompanied by her husband, actor and screenwriter David Rysdahl. A New Chapter for Zazie Beetz and David Rysdahl

The pregnancy announcement marks another major milestone for the couple, who officially tied the knot in 2023 after dating for nine years. Having first met during an acting workshop, Beetz and Rysdahl have built a deeply collaborative relationship both personally and professionally. They founded their own production company, Sleepy Poppy, and have shared the screen in projects such as Black Mirror, Dead Pigs, and Nine Days.

Speaking about their creative partnership in past interviews, Rysdahl emphasized how closely they work together on their careers. “She’s my acting coach and I’m hers,” he noted. This highlights the strong foundation of support they share as they prepare to welcome their first child.

Star-Studded Premiere of Apple TV’s Nocturne

Aside from the pregnancy reveal, the evening served as a major showcase for Nocturne. This highly anticipated 10-episode crime drama is scheduled to make its global debut on Apple TV on Friday, October 30. The series adapts elements from Lars Kepler’s acclaimed novels Lazarus and The Sandman.

The dark narrative centers on Jonah Lynn, played by Liev Schreiber. Jonah is an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who relocates to a small town in western Pennsylvania seeking peace. Instead, he faces a diabolically cunning serial killer named Jurek Walter, played by Stephen Graham. The desperate search forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer, played by Zazie Beetz, directly into the path of danger.

The red-carpet premiere brought together the show’s extensive principal cast. In addition to Beetz, Schreiber, and Graham, attendees included Chrissy Metz, Rory Culkin, Gary Carr, Poorna Jagannathan, Anne Windsland, Landon Valentin, Abigail Donaghy, and Chris Blunt. Several cast members joined with their significant others, including Liev Schreiber with his wife Taylor Neisen, and Rory Culkin with his partner Katelin Arizmendi.

Broadcast Schedule and What to Expect

Fans eager to watch Beetz in action will not have to wait much longer. Nocturne will premiere its first two episodes on October 30. Subsequent episodes will drop every Friday through December 25 on Apple TV.

With a gripping thriller hitting streaming platforms and a new baby on the way, Zazie Beetz is stepping into an exhilarating new chapter of her personal and professional life.
