Teen Killed, Bystander Wounded in Harlem Shooting

A 15-year-old boy was killed and a 57-year-old man was wounded in a shooting on Wednesday evening outside a public housing complex in Harlem, Manhattan, according to local authorities.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 6:21 p.m. following a ShotSpotter activation outside the King Towers NYCHA complex located on West 115th Street. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

Victims Identified by Police

Police identified the teenage victim as 15-year-old Jihad Pack. Pack sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach during the incident. Emergency responders transported him to Mount Sinai Morningside in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A second victim, a 57-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to his hand. According to law enforcement sources, the man was an innocent bystander who had been sitting outside his building when the gunfire erupted. He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where medical staff listed him in stable condition.

Investigation and Police Response

Investigators took a person of interest into custody at the scene following the shooting. As of Wednesday evening, law enforcement officials have not released a confirmed motive for the violence. No formal charges have been announced as the investigation remains active.

Detectives are continuing to canvas the area around West 115th Street for ballistic evidence, witness testimony, and surveillance footage. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to contact local authorities or submit tips through official crime-stopping channels.
