CBS launched the fourth season of its acclaimed police comedy-drama Elsbeth on Thursday, October 8, 2026, featuring a star-studded premiere episode. Carrie Preston returned to her role as the unconventional, brilliant attorney Elsbeth Tascioni. She matched wits with Grammy-winning singer and actress Nicole Scherzinger, who guest-starred as the primary murder suspect in an episode titled “Crazy in Love.”
The Murder Case Driving the Season 4 Premiere
The premiere episode centers on the high-profile homicide of Casey. Casey was a struggling musician involved in an affair with Serena Collyer, played by Scherzinger. Collyer is a popular and highly paid relationship counselor whose cool, professional demeanor masks a messy and dangerous passion.
The trouble begins after Serena sends a provocative text message to Luke, the husband of one of her counseling clients. Enraged, Luke confronts and attacks Casey at his apartment. Serena subsequently arrives at the apartment and shoots Casey with his own firearm. She manufactures the complex crime scene that ultimately draws the scrutiny of Elsbeth and the New York Police Department.
Scherzinger won a 2025 Tony Award for her performance in the Broadway revival of Sunset Blvd. She is also widely recognized as the frontwoman of The Pussycat Dolls. She leads an impressive lineup of guest stars for the show’s fourth outing.
Schedule Changes and New Additions
Alongside the dramatic narrative, the season opener brought several structural changes. Elsbeth shifted to a new, earlier time slot of 9:02 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursdays. It moved up from its previous 10 p.m. position due to network schedule adjustments.
The episode also checked in on ongoing personal developments within the 11th Precinct. Teddy, played by Ben Levi Ross, set an official wedding date. Meanwhile, Gloria Reuben reprised her role as Claudia Payne, the wife of Captain C.W. Wagner, played by Wendell Pierce.
Stacked Guest Star Lineup for Season 4
Executive produced by Robert King, Michelle King, and showrunner Jonathan Tolins, Elsbeth continues its tradition of featuring notable guest actors as the killer of the week. Upcoming episodes in Season 4 will feature:
- Nicholas Braun: Starring as Jeremy Perrick, the son of a famous American playwright struggling to step out of his father’s shadow, alongside veteran actor John Doman.
- Jemima Kirke: Portraying Winter Redgrave, the sleek CEO of a lifestyle brand whose curated world faces a hostile corporate takeover threat from her sister.
- OG Anunoby: The New York Knicks professional basketball star, who will make a special cameo appearance following a stellar athletic season that included an NBA Cup championship.
