The BBC has officially revealed the highly anticipated celebrity lineup and route for the fourth series of the BAFTA-winning hit show, Celebrity Race Across The World. Set to air on BBC One and iPlayer later this year, the upcoming season will take four pairs of famous faces on an arduous 7,500-kilometer trek across three countries and two continents, starting in Malaysia and concluding in Melbourne, Australia.
The Official Season Four Celebrity Lineup
For this grueling expedition, the participating celebrities will leave behind their mobile phones, credit cards, luxury home comforts, and flights entirely. Armed with just a map and a strict budget equivalent to £26 per person per day, the four competing duos are:
- Sam Ryder (acclaimed singer, songwriter, and musician) and his best friend and tour manager, Kaz.
- Ella Eyre (Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter) and her childhood friend, Nana.
- Jeff Stelling (veteran sports broadcaster) and his son, Matt.
- Princess Andre (influencer) and her brother, musician Junior Andre.
An Epic 7,500-Kilometer Route From Borneo to Australia
The journey kicks off in the vibrant city of Kuching, located in the Malaysian state of Sarawak in Northwest Borneo. Serving as the gateway to the island’s vast wilderness, this opening leg marks a franchise first by diving straight into prehistoric jungles and the Sarawak rainforest.
Contestants must navigate five distinct checkpoints across three countries and two continents without taking any flights. Their ultimate destination is the sunbaked southern tip of Australia, with the grueling race culminating at the finish line in Melbourne. Teams must rely entirely on their personal resourcefulness, local forms of transport, and the kindness of strangers to advance.
What Producers and Broadcasters Say
Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer at production company Studio Lambert, highlighted the physical and emotional demands of the format. “This year’s pairs navigate a journey that lays bare two extremes of today’s world. We can’t wait to share how they get on. Contestants give unfiltered and honest reactions to the experiences they face that are as demanding as they are joyful,” he stated.
Jasmyn McGuile, Commissioning Editor for BBC Factual Entertainment and Events, added: “Audiences have been asking when the Race might reach Australia, so we are delighted that they will be able to experience this unique journey for the first time in Celebrity Race Across the World. With an adventurous start in Borneo’s Sarawak rainforest, another series first, it makes for an unmissable opener for this year’s celebrity teams.”
When to Watch
Produced by Studio Lambert and commissioned by Catherine Catton, Celebrity Race Across The World Series Four is a six-part series (6×60′) slated to premiere this autumn on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Previous seasons and related formats remain available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
