Supermodel Cindy Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber, and their daughter Kaia Gerber have broken their silence following the death of their son and brother, Presley Gerber. Presley passed away on September 20 at the age of 27 inside a Los Angeles-area rehabilitation facility. Nearly a month after the loss, the family shared a joint statement on Instagram to honor his memory, remember his kindness, and express gratitude for the support they have received.

The emotional tribute was shared on Sunday alongside a black-and-white photograph of Presley wearing angel wings. In the statement, the family reflected on the impact he left during his 27 years of life, highlighting his vulnerability and compassion for others.

“We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother,” the family wrote in their statement. “We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever. We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability.”

The family also acknowledged the compassion shown by friends, fans, and strangers during their time of mourning. “We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain,” they added. “Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia.”

Investigation and Background Details

According to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records, Presley Gerber passed away at a rehabilitation facility on September 20. On September 21, the Santa Monica Police Department stated that his death was being investigated as a suspected overdose with no indication of foul play. An official cause of death has not yet been released by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Presley followed in his mother and sister’s footsteps by signing with IMG Models at age 15 and working with luxury brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein. He was open about his personal battles and spoke candidly over the years about his struggles with substance abuse, depression, and mental health.

During a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, Presley discussed the effort required to manage his well-being. “It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it,” he shared at the time. He also utilized social media to foster conversations, launching an Instagram series titled “Mental Health Mondays” to encourage others to speak honestly about their own struggles.

A Legacy of Vulnerability and Family Bonds

Presley’s commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding addiction and mental health left a mark on those close to him. In an interview with Vogue published in August, his sister Kaia Gerber praised her older brother for his transparency and courage.

“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything,” Kaia told the publication. “And now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone.’”

As the family navigates this grief, they remain dedicated to carrying forward Presley’s mission of advocating for mental health awareness and improving resources for those facing similar struggles. Representatives for the family have asked for continued privacy as they heal from the loss.
