Landman Adds Michael Kelly as Season 3 Films in Texas

October 12, 2026 3 min read 0 comments

Production on the third season of the hit Paramount+ drama series Landman is underway in Fort Worth, Texas. Veteran actor Michael Kelly has joined the cast as a series regular. He steps into a major role that will shift the corporate dynamics of the West Texas oil landscape.

Kelly portrays William Crockett, the head of the largest oil management firm in the world. Producers describe Crockett as a true “titan of industry” where “everything about him exudes efficiency and money.” His arrival follows a turbulent second season that featured major shifts in leadership, ownership, and corporate friction involving M-Tex Oil and Cami Miller, played by Demi Moore.

Expanding the Taylor Sheridan Universe

This casting marks a continued collaboration between Kelly and co-creator Taylor Sheridan. Kelly stars as deputy CIA director Byron Westfield in Sheridan’s Paramount+ military drama series Lioness. A four-time Emmy nominee for his work on Netflix’s House of Cards, Kelly’s television credits also include HBO’s The Penguin, Amazon’s Jack Ryan, and the AMC animated series Pantheon.

Kelly expressed enthusiasm for the role on social media, stating he is thrilled to join the ensemble. His casting fills a gap following the departure of characters like Jon Hamm’s season-one oil tycoon Monty Miller, setting up a fresh wave of high-stakes corporate maneuvering.

Returning Cast and Production Details

Landman stars Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton as landman Tommy Norris. The expansive ensemble cast features returning stars Demi Moore, Sam Elliott, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, and James Jordan.

Four supporting performers have received promotions to series regulars for the upcoming episodes. Colm Feore (Nathan), Mustafa Speaks (Boss), Bobbi Salvor Menuez (Paigyn Meester), and Francesca Xuereb (Cheyenne) will take on expanded narrative roles as the plot progresses.

Behind the Scenes of the West Texas Oil Drama

Based on the acclaimed 11-part podcast Boomtown, Landman explores the roughnecks, wildcat billionaires, and corporate players fueling a modern-day oil boom in West Texas. Co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, the series is a ratings driver for Paramount+. Nielsen multiplatform data shows the drama averaged over 14 million viewers per episode during the initial weeks of 2026.

The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions. Executive producers include Sheridan, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Christian Wallace, Billy Bob Thornton, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and Stephen Kay. Additional executive producers include Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch for Imperative Entertainment, along with J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly.

Paramount+ has not yet announced an official premiere date or episode count for Season 3, but production is moving forward on location in Fort Worth. Fans can stream the first two seasons on Paramount+ while awaiting updates on the show’s return.
