Netflix has officially completed production on the fourth and final season of its hit action-thriller series, The Night Agent. Filming wrapped on September 30, 2026, marking a major milestone for the streaming platform’s popular spy franchise ahead of a planned 2027 release window.
To celebrate this production milestone, Netflix released a behind-the-scenes video featuring series lead Gabriel Basso, who returns to play low-level FBI agent-turned-operative Peter Sutherland. The concluding chapter shifts its primary production base to Los Angeles after filming earlier seasons in New York, setting up a wider scope of international locations and dangerous operations.
Showrunner Shawn Ryan’s Definitive Vision
The decision to wrap up the series with Season 4 aligns directly with creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan’s original creative plan. Since the breakout success of the show’s debut season in 2023, Ryan has aimed to deliver a cohesive, four-season arc that gives Peter Sutherland a definitive and thrilling conclusion.
“Ever since the initial success of The Night Agent, I’ve been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland’s journey,” Ryan shared with Netflix Tudum. “I’m so grateful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for partnering with me and for giving us the space to deliver a definitive final season.”
What to Expect from the Final Chapter
The newly released behind-the-scenes footage leans heavily into high-octane set pieces. It highlights an intense airfield sequence where Peter Sutherland escapes an exploding passenger plane. Basso promised fans an adrenaline-fueled experience from the set, stating that the creative team has worked tirelessly to build an explosive series finale.
“This is the fourth and final season of The Night Agent. Peter has some new friends. Peter has some new foes,” Basso said in the wrap announcement. “To everyone who has watched the show, thank you. We’ve worked really hard to make this an explosive series finale.”

Release Window and Expectations
Netflix has not yet locked down an exact calendar release date, but the platform has committed to a 2027 debut. Historically, past seasons of The Night Agent have dropped in the first quarter of the year. Season 1 debuted in March, Season 2 in January, and Season 3 in February, leading industry analysts to speculate a similar Q1 rollout for the grand finale.
With principal photography now complete in Los Angeles, the series has officially entered post-production as it prepares to close the book on one of Netflix’s most successful modern spy franchises.
