Actor Paul Rudd has shared insights into his daily habits, detailing a repetitive diet and his firm decision to ban mobile phones from film sets. During the press run for his latest project, the 57-year-old star explained how stepping away from constant connectivity has improved both his working relationships and his personal well-being.

Speaking at the world premiere of his upcoming environmental drama A Statement at the New York Film Festival, Rudd discussed why he refuses to bring smartphones around production areas. Director Tom McCarthy enforced a strict no-phones policy on the set of the film, a choice that Rudd enthusiastically supported.

“I don’t go to sets with a phone. I haven’t done that for a while now,” Rudd told reporters. “It’s important to put it down. Anytime. They’re horrible things. I’m addicted to it like everybody else. They’re facilitating our own destruction.”

The film, set in 1980 at a Florida beachside resort, follows 20 scientific experts debating climate change policy, drawing stylistic comparisons to 12 Angry Men. Rudd stars alongside a sprawling ensemble cast featuring Paul Giamatti, Tatiana Maslany, John Turturro, and Amy Ryan. According to Rudd, removing digital distractions helped forge genuine connections among the actors.

“The world has changed since cell phones have existed. We don’t look at each other or talk to each other quite the same way,” Rudd explained. “With the phone ban, we were forced to really spend time with each other and talk. Working on a movie set in 1980, we’re dressed in a certain kind of way. It felt like, ‘Oh, yeah. I remember this. This feels like it used to feel when people sat around and spoke to one another.’”

Co-star Amy Ryan echoed similar sentiments, noting that abandoning doomscrolling during breaks enriched the overall creative process. Rudd compared breaking the digital habit to dietary adjustments, noting that the initial friction quickly fades.

Inside Paul Rudd’s Daily Routine and Diet

Alongside his professional boundaries regarding technology, Rudd maintains a famously disciplined lifestyle. According to recent reports, the actor follows a predictable and repetitive daily diet centered around simple, nutrient-dense foods to maintain his health and fitness.

Rudd’s everyday menu typically features:

  • Eggs consumed daily for a reliable source of clean morning protein.
  • Salmon incorporated regularly for healthy omega-3 fatty acids.
  • A straightforward protein shake prepared simply with water rather than added sugars or heavy dairy bases.

The actor has frequently noted that he finds comfort in dietary repetition, making it easier to stick to his nutritional goals over long periods without second-guessing meal choices.

Looking Ahead to Upcoming Projects

A Statement, based on Nathaniel Rich’s 2019 non-fiction book Losing Earth, is scheduled to hit theaters in early 2027. Rudd plays the moderator of a historical 1980 convention where scientists debated climate evidence.

In addition to independent and dramatic cinema, Rudd is also preparing to reprise his role as Scott Lang, also known as Ant-Man, in the highly anticipated Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release in December 2027.
