Law enforcement agencies across Virginia are conducting a statewide manhunt for 37-year-old Marvin Grant. Police say he shot three of his coworkers in an act of workplace violence in Manassas. The shooting occurred around 7 a.m. at the United Rentals facility located in the 9400 block of Wellington Road.
According to the Manassas City Police Department, responding officers arrived at the scene following multiple 911 calls reporting an active shooter. Authorities discovered three victims, all employees of the facility. Two of the injured individuals were located inside a garage area, while a third victim was found walking in an office space connected to the garage.
Victims in Critical Condition Following Dispute
Manassas Police Chief Douglas W. Keen stated during a news briefing that investigators believe an altercation preceded the gunfire. Two of the victims were transported to Prince William Hospital, and the third was rushed to Fairfax Hospital. All three victims sustained life-threatening injuries and remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Numerous other employees were on site when the violence erupted. Police confirmed they had no prior interactions or history with Grant before the Wednesday morning shooting.
Statewide Manhunt and Suspect Description
Following the incident, Grant immediately fled the area. Investigators believe he has already escaped the immediate Northern Virginia region. Law enforcement has issued a detailed description of the suspect:

- Description: Light-skinned Black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall
- Identifying Features: Brown eyes and brown hair
- Vehicle: May be driving a gray Toyota Camry or Toyota Corolla bearing temporary North Carolina license plates
Authorities urge anyone who spots Grant or the vehicle not to approach him and to dial 911 immediately.

The active shooter incident prompted immediate safety measures across the surrounding community. Local law enforcement initially issued a shelter-in-place order, which officials have since lifted. However, nearby Jennie Dean Elementary School remained in a “Secure the Building” status for the remainder of the school day as an added precaution.
