Irish rock band U2 has officially announced their return to stadium touring with the upcoming Greatest Show On Earth world tour, scheduled to kick off in early 2027. Announced on October 15, 2026, the tour will support the band’s highly anticipated 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz, marking their first collection of new material in nine years.

The initial leg of the tour will feature six massive concerts across three Latin American destinations: Mexico City, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires. Acclaimed alternative artist Beck has been confirmed as the supporting act for all Latin American dates.

Latin American Tour Dates and Venues

According to announcements from Live Nation, RTÉ, and Hot Press, the band will play two consecutive nights in each of the three confirmed cities. U2 confirmed that these are the exclusive Latin American stops scheduled for the 2027 itinerary:

  • February 23, 2027: Mexico City, Mexico – Estadio GNP Seguros

  • March 10, 2027: São Paulo, Brazil – Estádio MorumBIS
  • March 12, 2027: São Paulo, Brazil – Estádio MorumBIS
  • March 23, 2027: Buenos Aires, Argentina – Estadio River Plate

The Inspiration Behind ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’ Tour

This massive outing marks U2’s first return to stadium settings since wrapping up their acclaimed The Joshua Tree Tour in Mumbai on December 15, 2019. Following their historic 40-show residency at Sphere in Las Vegas throughout 2023 and 2024, the band is eager to bring a fresh, grand-scale production back to open-air venues.

“‘The Greatest Show on Earth’? Now that’s a throwdown. It’s a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone, to try and have the best night of anybody’s life. A bit of showman, a bit of shaman, a riot of colour, unreasonable guitar, bass and drums, and tunes you can hold onto. Because if people are gonna show up, we certainly are,”

– Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. (Joint Statement)

The tour shares its name with the third single from Carnaval De Luz, co-written by U2 and Brian Eno. The album follows previous preview singles “Street Of Dreams” and “Silencio,” and is scheduled for release on November 13, 2026. The record will feature a back-to-basics sonic approach and includes a duet between Bono and the late Dolly Parton on the track “Torn,” alongside a tribute song dedicated to Spanish singer Rosalía titled “The Mirror Maker.”

Band Lineup and Upcoming Announcements

Drummer Larry Mullen Jr. is slated to return for the 2027 tour following extensive rehabilitation from neck surgery that required him to sit out the Las Vegas Sphere residency. Mullen noted that he evaluates his physical stamina night by night to ensure he can deliver high-energy performances.

In addition to the Latin American dates, U2 confirmed that upcoming concert schedules for Europe and North America will be released in the coming weeks, alongside planned homecoming dates in Ireland.
