October 11, 2026 3 min read 0 comments

Marvel Studios took over the Empire Stage at New York Comic Con to unveil its expansive upcoming television and animation lineup for Disney+. Led by Marvel’s Head of Television, Animation, Comics, and Franchise Brad Winderbaum, the presentation delivered major announcements, including brand-new series, returning fan favorites, and confirmation of multi-year event programming.

The panel offered a comprehensive look at what subscribers can expect on Disney+ over the next few years. It balanced live-action spy thrillers, R-rated superhero drama, and high-profile animated returns.

Zodiac Leads New Live-Action Slate

Among the major surprises of the weekend was the official announcement of Zodiac, a brand-new live-action spy-thriller series coming to Disney+ in 2028. Filming is scheduled to begin in London in the spring, with casting announcements expected in the coming weeks.

While narrative details remain heavily guarded, the series title draws from multiple references in Marvel Comics history. Additionally, eagle-eyed fans noted that the logo design incorporates a distinct S.H.I.E.L.D. symbol reference within the letter “A.” This hints that the project may delve back into the history of the clandestine espionage organization.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Brings Final Chapter and Defenders Reunion

One of the most talked-about moments of the panel centered on Daredevil: Born Again. Marvel confirmed that the upcoming third season will serve as the show’s final installment.

Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, and Finn Jones made a surprise appearance on stage to tease new footage. The final season will bring back key members of the classic Netflix Defenders era. Finn Jones returns as Danny Rand (Iron Fist) alongside Cox’s Matt Murdock and Ritter’s Jessica Jones. Though Mike Colter was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts, his character, Luke Cage, is also slated to appear in the series.

VisionQuest and Additional Release Windows

The presentation also highlighted VisionQuest. This series wraps up the thematic trilogy that followed WandaVision and Agatha All Along.

Cast members Paul Bettany, James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, and Emily Hampshire joined showrunner Terry Matalas on stage. They discussed Paul Bettany’s White Vision confronting rogue artificial intelligence, including James Spader’s returning Ultron. Attendees were treated to a surprise screening of the show’s first episode ahead of its Disney+ premiere.

In addition to live-action projects, Marvel Animation outlined a packed schedule:

  • Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2: Debuts on Disney+ on January 13, 2027, featuring Peter Parker donning the iconic black symbiote suit.
  • X-Men ’97 Season 3: Slated for a 2027 release, teasing the return of the Brotherhood of Mutants and wedding bells for Gambit and Rogue, with a fourth season already in development.
  • Marvel Zombies Specials: A new Halloween tradition running across three consecutive years. This includes Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier in 2027, Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu in 2028, and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian in 2029.

With live-action television and animated event specials mapped out through the end of the decade, Marvel Studios continues to lean heavily into serialized streaming storytelling to complement its theatrical calendar.
