West Midlands Police have launched a public appeal to identify two men captured on CCTV wearing unusual masks after telecommunication and utility cables were deliberately damaged in Coventry. The incident occurred late at night on Broad Lane, prompting an ongoing criminal damage investigation by local law enforcement.

Authorities released images of the suspects on October 14, 2026, seeking public assistance to track down the individuals involved. According to police reports, the vandalism took place at approximately 11:40 p.m. on August 22.

Unusual Disguises Captured on CCTV

Investigators reviewing the security footage noted that the two suspects wore distinctive masks depicting a woman with a styled, cropped blonde haircut. While local news outlets such as the Coventry Telegraph and Daily Star reported that the face coverings strongly resemble British broadcaster Clare Balding, police descriptions have kept strictly to the visual details of the blonde-haired likeness.

In addition to the masks, investigators highlighted another distinct detail to help the public identify the suspects. One of the men was seen wearing a dark top prominently displaying the number 1976 across the front.

Police Appeal for Public Assistance

Detectives have not yet identified either of the individuals seen in the footage and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Police emphasized that the two men in the CCTV stills should contact investigators directly, as they may hold crucial details regarding the sequence of events on Broad Lane.

Officers are continuing to review surrounding CCTV footage and conduct local inquiries to establish a full timeline of the criminal damage incident. Anyone who recognizes the clothing, the distinctive masks, or who witnessed sus**cious activity in the area late on August 22 is encouraged to contact West Midlands Police.
