Media personality and podcast host Vogue Williams has opened up about the deep emotional embarrassment she experienced following her divorce from Westlife singer Brian McFadden. She reflected on how far her personal life has come as she celebrates a complete family with her husband, Spencer Matthews.
The 40-year-old presenter first rose to public attention on the television series Fade Street in 2010 and married McFadden in 2012. The marriage later dissolved, and the couple officially separated in 2017. Speaking candidly on her hit podcast, My Therapist Ghosted Me, which she hosts alongside comedian Joanne McNally, Williams addressed the fallout of that initial split. She responded after a listener wrote in seeking advice on dealing with heartbreak after a divorce at age 30.
Reflecting on her mindset during that period, Williams admitted she felt profound vulnerability. She believed her future family dreams were entirely derailed and convinced herself she would never marry again or have children, resigning herself to singlehood.
“I was so embarrassed when the whole thing had happened. I just was like, ‘This is the worst,’” Williams recalled on the podcast. “I had made myself come to terms with the fact that I was never going to have kids and that I was never going to be married again.”
Despite those early fears, Williams’ life took a positive turn later that same year. She met former Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews while participating in the Channel 4 winter sports reality show The Jump. The connection was instantaneous, leading to a whirlwind romance. The pair married in 2018 and have since built a large family together.
Williams and Matthews share four children: Theodore, eight, Gigi, six, Otto, four, and their youngest, baby boy Remy Valentine, who arrived in September 2026. Offering encouragement to the listener who was navigating a similar breakup, Williams noted how quickly life circumstances can shift.
“I did enjoy being single and it took about three months… Then I met somebody and now I’m sitting on this podcast breastfeeding my fourth child. So this could be you at 40,” she reflected.
Looking Back at Past Relationship Struggles
This is not the first time Williams has spoken openly about her first marriage. In her autobiography, Big Mouth, she detailed the internal conflict she faced leading up to her wedding day. She wrote that she felt overwhelmed by anxiety and stress because deep down she recognized the relationship was a mistake.
While acknowledging that the marriage had positive moments and that McFadden was generally fun to be around, Williams ultimately made the difficult decision to call it quits. She noted that persistent efforts to salvage the relationship proved fruitless.
Meanwhile, Brian McFadden has also moved forward. He married his third wife, former PE teacher and lifestyle blogger Danielle Parkinson, in a beach ceremony in Cornwall in July 2025. The couple shares a daughter named Ruby, born in 2021.
For Williams, the painful chapter of her early thirties is now firmly in the past. It is overshadowed by a thriving media career, a bustling household, and a stable partnership with Matthews that has cemented her vision of a complete family.
