Actress and comedian Roseanne Barr has opened up about her close friendship with the late Lisa Marie Presley. She revealed candid and intimate conversations the two shared regarding Presley’s marriages to pop icon Michael Jackson and actor Nicolas Cage. In an interview published by The Hollywood Reporter, Barr recounted the private details Presley confided in her before her passing in January 2023 at the age of 54.
Reflecting on her past Hollywood friendships, the 73-year-old comedian singled out Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s only child as her closest companion among the celebrities she spent time with. According to Barr, Presley spoke very openly about her romantic history.
Candid Conversations About Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage
During the interview, Barr claimed that Presley described her former husband, Michael Jackson, as the best s*xual partner she had ever experienced. When the interviewer challenged the bold statement, Barr firmly stood by her recollection. She emphasized that Presley was consistently truthful about her personal life.
“No, I’m not lying,” Barr told the publication. “She said he was the best lay and he had it going on. She said he told her all the things girls want to hear.”
Jackson and Presley married in May 1994 before finalizing their divorce in August 1996. Barr noted that Presley never fabricated stories about such personal matters. She added that the singer also shared intimate details about her subsequent brief marriage to Nicolas Cage. Presley and Cage wed in August 2002 and separated less than four months later.
“She told me about Nicolas Cage and his business,” Barr added. “She told me everybody she was with and their business, the size of it and the use and all of it.” Representatives for Cage, Presley’s estate, and Jackson’s estate did not immediately issue comments regarding Barr’s interview remarks.
Memoir Revelations and Family Perspectives
Barr’s recent disclosures align with insights previously shared by members of the Presley family in their respective memoirs. In her posthumous book, From Here to the Great Unknown, co-authored with daughter Riley Keough, Lisa Marie detailed her relationship with Jackson. She noted that he was a virgin when they met and that she was surprised when he initiated physical intimacy.
Meanwhile, Priscilla Presley addressed the high-profile marriage in her 2025 memoir, Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis. Priscilla admitted she was initially appalled by the match and questioned whether the couple maintained a physical relationship. Lisa Marie later confirmed to her mother that they did.
Barr is currently making media appearances to promote her privately financed sitcom, Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable, which features Randy Quaid, Drea de Matteo, and Omar Gooding. The comedian described the project as a humorous series centered around a patriotic grandmother leading a mixed-race prepper family in Texas.
